Lavushimanda District is one of the nine (8) Districts of Muchinga Province that came into existence in 2017 after the delimitation of Mpika, to create two more districts in the Province. The District was officially declared as a District on 10th March, 2017 by the Republican President, His Excellency President Edgar C.Lungu. The creation of the District was necessitated by governments’ desire to fulfill the implementation of the decentralization policy, which is envisaged to bring services closer to the people in an efficient and effective manner using the Local Authority.
