The Government of the Republic of Zambia today reaffirmed its commitment to decentralisation and inclusive development through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) by handing over K2.754 million Empowerment Grants to 153 beneficiary groups under Mfuwe Constituency, aimed at boosting entrepreneurship, village banking initiatives, and improving livelihoods.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Dr Tuesday Bwalya said the grants, with each group receiving K18,000, demonstrate Governmentβs commitment to decentralisation and inclusive development through the enhanced CDF programme.
He noted that the funds will help beneficiaries establish and expand businesses, thereby reducing vulnerability and creating sustainable economic opportunities.
Dr. Bwalya observed that most beneficiaries are investing in agriculture-related ventures, which will contribute to increased food security, production, and productivity at the local level.
He emphasized that the grants are investments in the dreams and potential of citizens and urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly, maintain proper financial records, and ensure projects deliver lasting benefits to their communities.
The Permanent Secretary also commended the Constituency Development Fund Committee, Lavushimanda Town Council, Ward Development Committees, and other stakeholders for their dedication towards development in the District.
